Monopoly
redesign
challenge
On Thanksgiving a few years ago, my family and I launched a competitive game of Monopoly — and I learned something new. Evidently if you own a color group, you raise the rent 2x, even without any houses or hotels. I grew up playing many aggressive round robin tournaments with my brothers, but somehow, never saw that. I attributed it to poor design. Since those cards haven’t seen a material change since 1936, I spent a couple hours between courses updating the design.

Again, I focused on making the board redesign visually bolder, cleaner, and modern, while still adhering to the original content.
